About Me

I am a sometimes-writer, everyday mama, creative failure and experimental cook. I am interested in living a beautiful life, spending time with my family and making things that I can feel proud of. When I'm by myself I'm usually outside. Don't bother calling because chances are that I didn't bring my cell phone because I couldn't find it. If you see me walking, it's because I lost my keys and if you see me with only one child... I'm probably in big trouble.

Bed Bugs in da house

All I can say is that Lila woke up with a half-live bed bug on her sheets and blood stains this morning.

The exterminator says that this is good.

I am unable to think and my feelings are insane, unhealthy and shooting all over the place.

My friend Victoria says that we can go and live with her if we need to... just until we can get on our feet. I may need to leave Philadelphia. I know that Jay can't. His job is here. Plus, he loves it here. I don't want to walk away from my marriage (AT ALL) but it's irresponsible for me to keep my children in this situation.

I am going to follow the exterminators directions, practice patience and hope for the best. If, in a few weeks, we're still going through this...I'll have to leave.

The company that we hired to dispose of our belongings will not do it until it's been exterminated. Our apartment management didn't want to exterminate until our belongings are gone.

Oh, and today was our anniversary.

  2. I've been through this. Apparently not so bad as you seem to, but my 2 yr old had them in his crib. I found a hole in the mattress (those plastic ones), duct taped it, and sprayed his and my bed with alcohol. Happened twice before I realized what it was. It's quite common, only people think it's spider bites. On the up side, if he says it's good, and it was half dead, perhaps he's right, and you can find something positive moving in the right direction. I'm sure you've already done this, but I found some common sense things here http://www.bedbugsguide.com/ and the baby's mattress seemed to do the trick, have had non since. Good luck, I don't think you should leave, it'll be ok!!

  3. Wow. That's really encouraging. It's funny because I feel like I hear two stories from people.

1.) bed bugs are no big deal. We bought some mattress covers and they were gone.

2.) bed bugs ruined my life. We couldn't get rid of them. We had them for a year. We had to move and abandon everything.

I am trying to keep a good attitude. Jay found a few of the babies dead on the mattress encasement. If they are dying... I will be okay.

Honestly, I think that I need to start seeing a therapist because of this. I feel REALLY awful.
