About Me

I am a sometimes-writer, everyday mama, creative failure and experimental cook. I am interested in living a beautiful life, spending time with my family and making things that I can feel proud of. When I'm by myself I'm usually outside. Don't bother calling because chances are that I didn't bring my cell phone because I couldn't find it. If you see me walking, it's because I lost my keys and if you see me with only one child... I'm probably in big trouble.

On The Grill

I love my grill!

Love it!

Love, Love it.

Last night I marinated a few steaks.  We rarely buy steak and usually when I cook it we're all a little bit disappointed, but I have the key to the meativerse and it is THE GRILL (mwah ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha hahahhaha...)

I also made garlic baked potatoes by making a small slit in each potato and then a dollop of minced garlic and olive oil on the foil before wrapping them up.  We went crazy and got real sour cream (a huge no-no in our house because Bunny has a casein allergy).

I used my side burner to steam broccoli and brussel sprouts.

I read about a great use for lavender,
You bundle rosemary and lavender together and put them on the grill with the meat and let them smoke flavor into it.  The taste was subtle and so nice...  Even better was the way it smelled while it was cooking.

And look!

I made my own steak sauce!

I didn't eat any because it has ketchup in it (I'm not eating any sugar), but it was pretty simple to make.  Bunny poured it all over her steak.

There's a guilty part of me that doesn't want to admit how good this meal was because it involves huge pieces of red meat.  But, seriously, this was incredible.  Like, incredible/ incredible.  Like, if I were a broiler I would marry these steaks, incredible.

Jay even got a little bottle of red wine and we both sipped a glass while we ate.

When it was over and the girls were back in the pool and we sat there, chit chatting and marveling at the sheer deliciousness that our mouths had just encountered, it seemed clear to me that it just doesn't get better than that!
